Best Time to Visit Istanbul
Season by season: weather, crowds, prices and what each part of the year is actually good for.

There is no bad time to visit Istanbul, but there are trade-offs. Spring and autumn get you the best weather at the cost of crowds; winter gets you the city almost to yourself in exchange for grey skies.
Spring (April–June)
The most popular season, and deservedly so. Days are mild, the tulips are out in April, and sitting outside is comfortable from morning to evening. Book accommodation early; this is peak demand.
Summer (July–August)
Hot, humid and busy. Sightseeing is best done early and late, with the middle of the day spent on the water or somewhere cool. The upside is long evenings and full ferry schedules.
Autumn (September–November)
Arguably the sweet spot. September still feels like summer on the water, October is crisp and clear, and by November the crowds have thinned noticeably while prices soften.
Winter (December–March)
Cold, often wet, occasionally snowy — and quietly magnificent. Hotel rates drop, queues disappear, and steamy tea shops and hamams come into their own.
