The Asian side's market, music and meze district
Cross to Kadıköy and Istanbul feels less like a monument and more like a city people live in. The produce market, record shops, bars along Kadife Street and the seaside walk to Moda make it the easiest half-day escape from the tourist core.

- Ferry from Eminönü, Karaköy or Beşiktaş, roughly 20 minutes and one of the best-value trips in the city.
- Marmaray train under the Bosphorus to Ayrılık Çeşmesi, then one metro stop.
